The "GHOSTS" story, from the author:

"I am fascinated with the trees! I am not sure if this has something to do with the fact that we didn't have many in my neighborhood when I was growing up in India. We barely got any rain. We had no running water: sometimes we would get water for 10-15 minutes, every other day. Recently, the lot behind my home in Raleigh was cleared for the new development. The lot used to be full of trees. And all of those were gone, as if overnight. Those powerful machines cut and tossed trees like [they] were straws. This touched me in some way and has been a subject of more than one painting. I did "Ghosts" when I was looking at shadows of trees at the home of my in-laws..."
